The Softie Windshield provides a quick, simple, robust and cost effective windshield for the tough environment of modern day ENG and location recording.

The Softie Windshield is a slip-on open-cell foam, with integral fur cover. The Softie will reduce wind-noise, protect your mic and is the standard world wide in TV. Softie windshields are available in a large range of sizes to fit most popular shotgun microphones.

Both the acoustic foam and synthetic fur are made from materials which are specially designed and manufactured for the purpose, and as a result up to 25 dB of wind-noise reduction without any adverse effect on High-Frequency. In addition the foam is not susceptible to UV or moisture damage, giving this product great longevity.

Advanced materials, adhesives and assembly techniques all combine to make the Softie an extremely tough product that provides excellent wind protection in the harshest of environments.

The Softie Windshield can be purchased either on its own, or as part of a Kit, which includes a Windshield, Lyre shock-mount and Pistol-grip.

Softie Windshields come in two varieties of fur length, classic and short hair. The short haired Softie, known as the Camera-Mounted Softie has closely cropped dark grey synthetic fur, offers lower profile and a more compact design without severely altering the efficiency of the Softie. It can also be mounted close to the camera lens without causing unwanted shadows.

The windjammer is a high quality synthetic fur-cover, which provides the highest possible protection against extreme wind-noise. When using a windjammer fitted over a windshield up to 50dB of wind-noise attenuation can be achieved, producing excellent standard audio recordings.

The kit includes a 12cm Softie Windshield, Lyre shock-mount and Pistol-grip, providing a quick and simple solution for wind protection and shock absorption. The Mini Windjammer suitable for use over a foam windshield of 50 x 155mm, provides excellent wind isolation for capturing audio in high-wind environments. Made from high-quality synthetic fur specifically designed for wind isolation,  easy-to-fit slip-on fur covers for use when recording outside with the built-in microphones found on portable cameras, external camera mics and handheld reporter microphones.

The Super-Softie® retains the excellent wind noise reduction of a conventional cavity windshield but allies it to a novel aerodynamic shape and surface structure, and to a material - 3D-Tex™ - which combines excellent acoustic transparency with superb attenuation of wind noise. It has no rigid internal structure, so causes virtually no polar pattern distortion and is extremely robust in challenging environments such as news-gathering.

If it becomes rain-soaked it can be squeezed out and shaken dry very quickly; if it becomes coated with dust it can be rinsed quickly without affecting its performance.

The Hi Wind Cover is designed to fit the Modular Windshield Kit to offer up to 35dB in wind noise reduction. It is manufactured from a durable black fleece material and is easy to fit in the field by simply sliding it over the Windshield basket, secured in place with Velcro pads.

Made to offer the wind attenuation properties of a full sized windshield in a much smaller package, the BBG Windshields are designed to slip onto the body of the microphone. This allows the microphone to be hand-held or shock-mounted with a Lyre suspension.

Perfect for short microphones, the BBG Windshield are suitable for low-profile boom applications as well as for use in hand-held operations and interviews. They are widely used for microphones with bulbous ends and ORTF microphone pairs, where the maximum head diameter is 80 mm.

The windshield is constructed of the same material as the full size modular windshields, but rather than clipping to a microphone suspension, the Windshield is mounted directly on the microphone, by a grommet gripping the microphone body. The microphone is pushed through the grommet, to completely enclose the microphone capsule.

The Windshield consists of two halves, which can be separated, to fit microphones with a ball-head or tapered body from inside the windshield. For additional wind protection a furry Windjammer cover is available.
